The world has a waste problem.
Not a “we need better bins” problem. A systemic, decades-long failure to deal with the two most stubborn waste streams on the planet — tyres and plastics.

We started TYRO because we’d had enough of watching mountains of end-of-life tyres and plastic waste get stockpiled, shipped overseas, or buried in the ground. Traditional recycling couldn’t solve it. Conventional pyrolysis couldn’t scale it. The industry kept moving the problem around instead of ending it.
So we ended it.
The Breakthrough
Partnering with Monash University, we developed something the industry said couldn’t be done at scale: a world-first, patented Co-Pyrolysis process that processes tyres and plastics together — with zero emissions and zero residue.
What comes out isn’t waste. It’s value: ultra-low sulphur fuel oils, high-quality carbon black, and gas — commodities with real industrial demand, feeding real circular supply chains.

Why It Matters
This isn’t a recycling gimmick. It’s a proven, science-backed system that transforms two of the world’s most damaging waste streams into resources that power steelmaking, transport fuels, plastics manufacturing, and energy systems.
Waste is no longer a liability. At TYRO, it’s the raw material for what comes next.
Where we’re headed.
What we’ve already done.

our goals

80
million tyres
Transforming landfill, stockpiled, and exported tyre waste into ultra-low sulphur fuel oil, near-zero sulphur carbon black, and hydrogen.
500,000
tonnes of plastic
Removing “unrecyclable” plastic from the waste stream and converting it into valuable, market-ready resources.
Commercial-scale plants operational
Establishing facilities across Australia and international markets, demonstrating TYRO’s Co-Pyrolysis technology at scale wherever waste accumulates.
What We’ve Already Achieved

We cracked it
Developed and patented a world-first Co-Pyrolysis process in partnership with Monash University, enabling tyres and plastics to be processed together—something the industry has struggled to achieve commercially for decades.
Our pilot plant at Monash University is operating
Producing ultra-low sulphur fuel oil and near-zero sulphur carbon black with zero emissions and zero residue. Proof, not promise.
Next stop: commercial scale
Progressing toward the delivery of our first commercial-scale plant at our site in Brooklyn, Victoria and moving from proven concept to proven infrastructure. Currently our engineers are working through our Planning submission and EPA Approvals with authorities and consultants.
